It has been many years since I received my last rank advancement. How do I know what rank I should request?
Go to the "Instructor Registration" page on our website. determine how many years since you received your 1st Degree Black Belt and use the "Time in Grade" schedule provided, to calculate your appropriate rank. Request that rank. We will allow that time to count as active time. The reason we allow this is that all the core Hapkido techniques are usually mastered by 1st degree black belt. Nearly all the advanced techniques for the higher dan ranks are variations of the core techniques, with the exception of weapons and advanced theory which we will allow you time to research and develop. With time and repeated practice one's skill level improves naturally. We are more concerned with the quality and proper execution of your techniques under realistic conditions rather than the quantity of techniques you know.
